Student tea room designs are collected for the Architectural Culture Week Student Grand Prix 2019 Ginchakai Tea Rooms hosted by the Architectural Institute of Japan, and the best submissions are displayed each year at Ginchakai. The submission awarded the gold prize will be constructed in full scale for the exhibit at Ginza Terrace on the 9th floor of Ginza Mitsukoshi Department Store again this year, and will be used as actual tea rooms. Enjoy a highly original tea ceremony room space uniquely created by students.

The Tokyo University of the Arts (TUA) will hold an exhibit again this year in Ginza Itoya. The HandShake Lounge that is the venue for the exhibit will display design pieces by faculty and graduate students from the Department of Crafts. You can purchase the items that are on display. Enjoy the creative tea ceremony space and implements.

We are holding a "sweet-making workshop" event for elementary school students. Two types of workshops are available: drawing pictures on crackers made by Matsuzaki Senbei, a long-standing confectionery in Ginza, and filling monaka wafers, a classic Japanese sweet, with red bean jam. It has been 500 years since tea and incense were first combined as a cultural art form. In Kodo (incense-smelling ceremony), inhaling the scent of the incense is called "listening." Participants "listen" to the scent (monko) of the precious koboku aromatic wood in an experience that combines knowledge and fun. The experience will be accompanied by easily-understood explanations, making it enjoyable for everyone.

ITO EN tea tasters with great tea knowledge and experience will give visitors delicious tea brewed in a teapot.
There are different key points for making delicious, fragrant tea for each type. The tea you usually drink without a second thought becomes even tastier depending on how it is served.
The COOL KANAZAWA Executive Committee, which promotes tea ceremony initiatives collaborating with art in tea capital Kanazawa, suggests new tea service settings.
From tea capital Kanazawa comes new proposals for tea spaces, featuring tea utensils made by young craftspeople. See exhibits of a wide variety of newly crafted tea utensils made by graduates from Kanazawa College of Art and Kanazawa Utatsuyama Kogei Kobo. During the period given below, visitors can enjoy a Teicha tea ceremony that actually utilizes these new-style tea utensils, including items such as Takaharu Hori’s Hakutogan teacups, and Koji Hatakeyama’s wind furnace.
Introducing Rikuzentakata City as it is today, with a focus on the Iwate Tsunami Memorial and the newly-opened Michi-no-Eki Takata-Matsubara.
This year too, students of The University of Tokyo Sencha Association will introduce guests to the charms of the Sencha-do tea ceremony. That day you can see Sencha-do tea ceremony using a tea service table and chair set that customers rarely see.
